As seen on RC Groups, Ezonemag.com, Fly R/C and Quiet Flyer (RC Sport Flyer) Magazine.
The Slow Stick X™ was developed in 2006 as an upgrade to the floppy foam wings of the GWS Electric Slow Stick R/C Park Flyer. Its innovative design replaces the styrofoam wing and tail of the GWS Slow Stick with a more robust balsa-constructed design, consisting of a fully symmetrical aerobatic wing complete with ailerons, and a tail with rudder and elevator.
This easy to build and cover laser-cut SSX™ build kit assembles like a 3-D puzzle!
As if the original Slow Stick X™ aerobatic plane wasn't good enough, Millennium R/C has launched a new, easier to build and cover version of its very popular Slow Stick X™ (released in January 2010). The updated version makes it even easier for novice builders to put together a great-flying plane. James Karpy got his wheels turning again to come up with a design that kept all the great flying characteristics of the original Slow Stick X™, but that required less sanding and shaping than the original kit, and which simplified the process of covering the wing. Some extras in the new design are the pre-cut slots for the CA hinges (which are also now included in the new kit), the ability to control flight even more by using four servos (which are now neatly tucked on the bottom of the wing), a new stronger, more rigid tail section, as well as a better roll rate thanks to its longer ailerons.
Kit can be built either as a straight-wing Slow Stick X™ or a dihedral-wing X-Trainer™!
Recommended Power Pack items: 400 style outrunner motor, 125-200 watts with 18-20 amp speed control, or equivalent; propeller and battery (1100 - 2200 mAh 3-cell lipo) as recommended in instructions for motor; 4 sub-microservos, such as HS-55 or HS-65; receiver and transmitter.
Maximum Flying Weight: 23 1/2 oz.
Wing Span: 42 x 12 in.
Wing Area: 504 sq. inches (3.5 sq. ft)

Parts fit together well. I think there were too many parts. Simplifying the number of parts would make it even better.

This was my first balsa build ever, however as a kid I built model cars as a hobby..I have been an Industrial Mechanic for 40 yrs so I am sure that experience has helped with the build. The directions were not what I expected, as I thought the instructions would offered more direction, from talking to others many balsa kits offer no guidance. The lazer cuts are awesome & the kit looks very nice after assembly. I think this is a top line kit, but you have to be able to figure much of the build on your own. Like I said this is my first balsa build..The kit does offer a manual of sort & a drawing of the completed project at 1/4 scale..Online info was helpful at times. I would reccomend this kit to others..

Prior to flying a Slow Stick X with a Cheetah 2814/8 motor, I was not an electric power fan; although I have been a "stick" fan for 30 years. The performance and fun of this airplane convinced me to get serious about electric power...now I own four Slow Stick X models.

Haven't flown it yet, but obviously a lot of thought went into the design. Wood quality and laser cutting in the kit are top notch. Only issue is a twisted fuselage tube, but that is being replaced. I'm building the trainer version for my 9 year old twin daughters who want to learn to fly. The biplane may be in my future......

They should call the SSX the Super Stick X. The guys at the field could not believe the performance. One guy thought his GWS was fast until he saw mine. I talked him into upgrading the wing to the SSX one. I love mine so much that when I damaged the wing I ordered a new plane. I'm rebuilding the old one with lights and water floats as a winter project, but until then I needed one to fly.

What a great kit. . .The laser cutting is terrific. Everything fits perfectly. I haven't built a kit like this in over 50 years and using CA glue is a new experience. Models have come a long way since the days of U control, etc. It's fun.
